Thank you to the Young Planet Leader program for believing in my work. Your support helped me push Mirai, my moisture-powered nanogenerator, from idea to 3 prototypes. I used the funding to procure high-quality nanomaterials, industrial-grade fiberglass, and hydrogel, and to 3D print configurations that use the power cell to run heart and environmental sensors. I also dedicated a portion of the grant to community impact, donating batteries to the Kakuma Vocational Center and supporting a school in Nairobi.

Being chosen as a Young Planet Leader has been a cornerstone in my success as a young environmental activist and the success of my organization, Seeds of Hope. The funding and support I received from Young Planet Leaders have helped me expand my organization and impact hundreds of more community members. It has also allowed me to connect with a robust network of other youth, inspiring me to work even harder. Young Planet Leaders' dedication to providing unwavering support and empowering young environmental leaders has strengthened collaboration, empowered global voices, and driven impactful environmental action worldwide.

Before I received the donations, I had planned to purchase educational materials, but the funds we had already raised were not enough to cover the costs. With the donations, we were able to add $380 to our budget and purchase our first set of educational materials. Part of the donation also went toward internet expenses for virtual activities that engaged over seventy-three participants. The remaining funds have been set aside to support our 2026 activities.

With the grant, I was able to fund my science research work which used bacteriophages (viruses that can kill bacteria) to remove harmful pathogens in wastewater. I was able to present this research at multiple conferences. Through this, I hope to develop a comprehensive solution for cities in Broward County to use to tackle wastewater treatment spills.

Being part of Young Planet Leaders was a great experience for me. It gave me the chance to share my ideas, take action on important environmental issues, and connect with other changemakers. Platforms like these are so valuable because they bring people together who want to make a difference. It also gave me an opportunity to learn, grow, and work on my initiative Recycle My Battery. I'm really thankful for this opportunity.

The Young Planet Leaders Program has provided me with valuable opportunities to share my passions for healthcare equity, economic policy, and environmental sustainability alongside like-minded individuals. As a member of the Young Planet Leaders Board, I have the chance to influence the organization in a meaningful way and contribute my insights to senior leaders. What I find unique about this program is its foundation on the principles of youth, allowing individuals like me to use our voices to effect positive change at every step of the journey.

Being part of Young Planet Leaders is a life-changing experience that shaped my understanding of leadership, collaboration, and advocacy all at once. It pushed me to think critically about sustainability and global responsibility, all while connecting with motivated changemakers who helped me engage in opportunities from all around the globe. By being an active part of this community, I learned about creating meaningful spaces where young voices can make a real difference.

Young Planet Leaders has provided valuable exposure for my projects and an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers passionate about combating climate change. Their support, including funding, has been helpful in advancing my environmental initiatives.
