June 2026 Young Planet Leader Ahmed Zaky Dawood

Ahmed Zaky Dawood is a 20 year old Egyptian medical student and youth leader working at the intersection of climate action and healthcare. Growing up in a rural village, his early exposure to inequality in education and health access shaped his commitment to building more inclusive systems. His journey accelerated after earning a USAID-funded scholarship to attend a STEM high school, where he developed practical solutions to real-world challenges such as clean water access, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture. Since then, he has actively contributed to international and local climate platforms, including engagement in COP-related processes and Local Conferences of Youth (LCOYs), with a strong focus on translating global dialogue into meaningful local impact.

Ahmed currently serves as President of the Egyptian Society for Clinical Audit and Practice Excellence (ESCAPE), where he leads initiatives integrating healthcare quality improvement with climate-health awareness. Through ESCAPE, he has helped train over 2,000 medical students and young professionals via workshops, national programs, and collaborations with institutions including the Ministry of Health. He is also a co-host of LCOY Egypt 2026 and the founder of Generation 2050, an initiative delivering climate and health education to adolescents in underserved communities. His work is driven by a core belief that human health is deeply connected to planetary health, and that empowering young people with knowledge and tools is key to building resilient, sustainable futures.
